Medway Campus Officer

Hello my name is Robert Pitt and I'm a second year adult nursing student at Medway. I'm running for Medway Campus Officer and I am running because I believe we are under represented as a campus and I feel more could be done to support students through the Students' Union and by the universities. I am currently the Vice President of the St John Ambulance Medway LINKS society and am an elected representative on the Societies Council Committee. I also work with the public services trade union, Unison, as the elected Young Members Officer for the Medway health branch. I represent the views of members under the age of 27 along with the views of all healthcare students on both local and regional committees.

Should I be elected I commit to campaign on the issues below:

BETTER INTERCAMPUS SERVICE

As a Medway student I know all to well how the bus service doesn't allow us to get to Avery hill or Greenwich in time for any activities or lectures we may want/need to attend, all too often I find that I have to find alternative transport to get to the other sites. I will campaign to improve the service provided and attempt to get the university to increase the amount of times they offer for pick ups from and returning to Medway.

BETTER REPRESENTATION

As a campus and a student body of the University of Greenwich you have expressed to me that you feel under represented by your Students' Union. I will endeavour to bring the campuses together on representation, working with the other elected officers within the union to ensure your views are represented on all issues that affect our campus, raise all issues we encounter with the appropriated officers, working with them to drive our campaigns forward. I will also ensure there's an open forum for students to raise their issues, I'll aim to hold an open session at least once a month where all are welcome to attend and discuss any problems you encounter or any ideas you have.

YOUR STUDENTS' UNION, FOR YOU

As your Medway officer, I will campaign to improve the service you receive from your Students' Union. I will work with Greenwich and Kent Students' Unions Together along with Students' Union University of Greenwich, to campaign for better and more affordable accommodation, improvements to the student activities services provided to societies, and facilities for societies and teams.

With the development of the C4 building I think it's important now to continue to develop the facilities available for use by students. Better sports facilities for the sports teams, but also for recreational use. More space for students to use, how they want to use it, ideas include mood/relaxation space and multi purpose room for your societies. I also believe we are lacking a multi faith room for use by students of different faiths for their religious activities.
