I am certain I will be a great volunteer ambassador for the University of Greenwich because I am enthusiastic, passionate, motivated and results driven. Everyone has a voice, opinion and interest and I will value and work hard to ensure your voice is heard.
During the last five years I have been part of the Student Voice Committee and was elected President of Events in sixth form. It allowed me to work closely with other students to create positive opportunities for students of the school, and create an exciting range of activities and events as well as providing support, advice and guidance.
As volunteer officer, I aspire to share my skills, advice and experiences which I have learnt as a result of my passion, to create a community in which students encourage one another to become more confident and have self-belief which will allow students to pursue their life goals.
Unlike Newcastle, London has so many diverse opportunities and I believe we must relish the chance to seize them. I am determined and excited to challenge myself; the extra time invested; understanding and delivering to students; and using my experience to create events and opportunities that will benefit students and the community.
It is my vision that every student gains valuable work and volunteer experience that will increase chances of employability during university and in the future.
ACCREDITED VOLUNTEERING EXPERIENCES
Wouldn’t it be nice if every committee member was rewarded? This is something I am currently researching and hoping could be a possibility. It is common knowledge that employers prefer students who have some valuable work or volunteer experience and if our students more become involved and start volunteering, chances of future employment will dramatically increase.
VOLUNTEERING NETWORK
I will ensure students are fully aware of work experience and volunteer opportunities available around them via social networking and media, as well as regular committee meetings. Students will be able to communicate with one another to share their knowledge and experiences. The network will provide students with valuable and useful contacts and opportunities.
THE BIG WEEKENDER
A volunteer weekend once every month that provides students with a regular opportunity to choose and volunteer for various events to increase their personal profile.
VOLUNTEER EVENT COMMITTEE
I hope to create an event committee that will allow students to volunteer, create and promote upcoming events. The aim of this is build a greater sense of community for all students and to provide more entertainment, fun activities and new friendships. Furthermore, the money from these events can be distributed into the union, charities or volunteering scheme.
VOLUNTEERING SCHEME
Perhaps you have something in mind that you would like to achieve or perhaps you’re part of a sports or club committee and need more space. The volunteering scheme aims to give you what you need in return for some recent volunteering work. The aim of the scheme is to promote volunteering, opportunity and encourage students to believe that anything can be possible.
